One of my new favorite "to-dos" is going walking with my daughters. We recently went for a walk in the park, and it was amazing how, everything is so fresh and brand new for my daughter Kalei. She kept pointing at various common, mundane things and asking, "Mommy, what's that?" After responding, she'd even ask follow up questions, like "Whose is it? What is it doing?" She was so genuinely curious, so completely open to everything around her.
As we were walking we came across various plants....well, to me, they were weeds, but to HER, they were so interesting. I kept asking myself when did I become so immune, so closed off to the things surrounding me. Because I never thought I was. What to her was a wonder, I wrote off as a weed.
Mahalo Ke Akua for Kalei's beautiful little legs, that made me slow down, and be re-introduced to our connection with our surroundings. Her beautiful eyes that saw everything as worthy of her attention, and her beautiful heart, so limitless and open.
